FEATURED ENTRPRENEURS

Ophelia Chambliss

Founder of: Ophelia's Making Agency

The Making Agency would provide a supportive environment with functional resources and direction. By creating an incubator of creative, cultural and artistic small businesses through professional development and industry education, we would address cultural competency and communications for a better community.

Challenge: My biggest challenge, at the moment, is finding a location that will allow access to the community in need, and also has visibility as it is also an economic driver through culture. This space has to be affordable for start ups and creatives but also welcoming to the outside community.

Another challenge is getting funders and granters to understand the importance of growing small businesses in these creative areas, especially post pandemic using trust based values to create meaningful, impactful relationships and reduce the inherent power imbalances of the traditional funding model.

Benbruno Nkapbela

Founder of: Lion’s Refinery Venture Capital

Over 50% of time in a laboratory is spent on sample preparation and a single laboratory often cannot perform all steps needed for a most biotech processes. We provide a one-stop shop of Biotech in Pennsylvania through our biofoundry; the Amazon for life sciences and biotech based companies.

Challenge: We need local partnerships with investors, universities, and equipment manufacturers.
